Hi, a p0012 error code indicates a problem with the camshaft position angle and is issued when the engine's computer detects a difference between the camshaft's intended position and its actual position. If you took it to a garage they would check for a problem with the variable valve timing of the F-150, which is regulated by oil control solenoids and camshaft actuators. - Faulty solenoids or actuators - Low oil levels - Worn timing chains - Stretched tensioners These are all causes for this code to be issued. You mentioned you noticed the check engine light, have you noticed other symptoms such as trouble starting, low fuel efficiency, stalling, or rumbling sounds from the engine? If a check engine light is the only issue you've noticed you may lucky and just need to top up your oil. Other repairs if this doesn't work could much more costly.
